If I had a dollar for every time I heard “the hotel I was staying at had a crappy gym, so I didn’t do my workouts”, I would buy you all a Starbucks! This is an excuse, like other popular ‘Oh darn! I guess I can’t do my workout now!’ excuses. A few weeks ago I was in Louisville, KY meeting with my business mastermind group and I only wanted to take a small carry on. Yes, I do mean SMALL – not a full sized suitcase that I then tried to jam into the overhead compartment. I only took my laptop bag to carry my computer and clothes.
I wore dress shoes on the plane (when I was little, going on a plane was a big deal and people got a little dressed up for the event – I still feel like you should not dress like you are going to a slumber party when you get on a plane). Since I was only going to be away for two days I figured I would just do a workout in my hotel room and that way I would not have to jam a pair of running shoes in to my carry-on.
By-the-way, if you ever find yourself in Louisville, KY definitely try to stay at the Brown Hotel. It is a beautiful grand old hotel that has been updated so it has a period charm, but not the feel that it has not had new carpet since Roosevelt was president! Enjoy the workout (the video quality is a little sketchy, but you will get the idea)!

Maria – you are hilarious – “dress shoes on the plane…when I was little…” – I am totally one of those people who get on a plane who look like I am going to a yoga class or like I’m going to coach/teach PE – maybe next time, you could do a video of an airplane workout because I will be dressed for that!
…..great workouts…love your newsletters…just signed up to do the Waterfront half marathon (Sept)…..trying to get “back into shape”….have never run that far so we’ll see how that goes…looking forward to the training….my husband loved the Simply Shredded workouts…he does them every now and then…great to do when we’re home hanging with the kids while they’re busy.
Keep up the good work! Love it!

Murph – didn’t you have to get dressed up to go on a plane? Maybe it was just me!! Murph, you are going to have a great time doing the half – it will be no problem at all for you, just be consistent with your training, don’t do too much too soon. And then at the race, resist the temptation to go out to quickly with the crowd – stick to your pace. It will be fun! The bad news is, once you do the 1/2, you will want to do a full. Glad that Fred is enjoying the SS workouts – the kids probably think he is nuts (probably think that anyway)! Have a great weekend Murph – thanks for the email!!
Cheers!
