Speed Training for Multi Directional Athletes

Just posted a pure speed training workout in the Team Revolution area of this site, but I wanted to share it with you as well.  It is a quick workout with a focus on speed, it is not meant to be a conditioning workout, so take lots of rest so you can give your best effort on each set.  Make sure you do a full dyanamic warm up and perform at least two warm up reps for each exercise.  If you have not done any sprint training or you do not play a multidirectional sport regularly, you should start by jogging through the workout a few times and gradually increasing your intensity.  Yes, I am thinking of you 43 year old guys out there who have a faint memory of doing sprints when you played high school football and you decide to leap off the couch and start sprinting.  You will tear either your hamstring or your achilles – do not even try it!!  Sorry.

A perfect surface for this workout is a soccer field or a football field – level ground is a must.  Enjoy!
