This program helps athletes reduce the risk of ACL injuries.

Avoid the surgeon with this ACL injury reduction training programOne of my goals for April was to run a mini-clinic for soccer coaches in London, ON to show them some speed training techniques they could use with their team and blend in some info on reducing the risk of ACL tears.  Before I had the Revolution studio, I used to go out and work with a bunch of soccer and hockey teams to work on their speed and agility.  Teams paid me $150 per hour to go out once per week and teach their athletes how to be fast.  I always thought team’s were not maximizing the return on their investment by having their players work on speed for one hour per week.  To be honest the best way to train speed is to spend 15-20 minutes working on it a few times per week.

Although speed training is a complex topic, athletes can make huge gains by incorporating and practicing some basic movement strategies.  In a quest to achieve my goal of helping soccer coaches make their athletes faster and more injury resistant, I asked a few people for some contact info – sent out a few emails to see if there was interest – which apparently there wasn’t.  Did I mention that I offered to volunteer my time?  Okay, so apparently I was not contacting the organizations who wanted their athletes to be faster or reduce their risk of injury - I am still very interested in reducing the risk of ACL injury in athletes so I want to pass along a detailed program that will help do just that.  Maybe you can pass it along to your soccer coach.

Maria…reducing ACL injuries and increasing speed is pretty key to a ski racer too. I think the extended McConville gang could benefit from that…Ms. Goad too. sm

Great idea Shawn – We cover these strategies during their workouts at the Revolution gym, but these would be some good take along workouts for times when they are away from town. Boy are you smart! Congratulations again to Patrick on making the Ontario Ski Team – looking foward to working him hard this summer so he will not only surprise his coaches, but also himself!
    Cheers,
